Hello Everyone! Bet you didn't think you'd see pictures of a BABY on this blog today! Well since I'm on the laptop and apparently the DNG converter doesn't like me today, you won't actually get to see the pictures. :( Sorry!! But today has been crazy and totally unexpected for everyone. I'll give you the very watered down version of the story since I don't really know all the details, and I'll give Lee the privilege of filling you in on those when she feels up to it. So here we go.
Lee had suspected that her water may have broken yesterday or the day before (?), thought she was having some Braxton Hicks contractions, and had called a couple of family members with some questions. She and Jon decided that the best thing was to go ahead and go up to Labor and Delivery to get checked out. She thought that she might wait until Tuesday, when she had her regular appointment with her doctor, but with some convincing, thought it would be best to go ahead and go. She and Jon, armed with nothing but a grocery list went up to the hospital. They didn't take anything else because they were convinced that they'd be sent home. Soon after having a few tests run, they were put in a room and Lee was told that she must sign some papers promising she wouldn't move from her bed. Her water had in fact broken and she was put on the monitor that was showing some fairly regular contractions. She waited all afternoon while the nurses and doctors checked on her. Finally, after being checked once more this evening, and realizing that she was 100% effaced, they gave her a timeline...which was only about 2 hours...maybe less. At about 9pm they wheeled her back to surgery. She, Jon, and baby Ridge did great. Ridge came out for a moment before the nurses and Jon wheeled him to the NICU. He was right at 5lbs, and was a whopping 18 inches long. Pretty huge for a 32 weeker! Can you image what he would've been at 39 weeks?! Lee came out of recovery and is doing well. She and Jon are resting at the hospital. Jon got some great pictures of Ridge right after he was born, and I was in charge of uploading them and posting them on this post. But I can't find my USB cord, so that will have to wait. I'll put some of the ones I got for now. Ridge was breathing on his own very well from the beginning, but got a little tired after a couple of hours. They thought they might intubate him just to keep some positive pressure on his lungs and to help him out a little after we all left the hospital. But he's really doing well. There will be pictures up tomorrow...hopefully. :)
